For a long time, standard paleontology viewed the prehistoric world through a decidedly northern lens, assuming that giant theropods everywhere followed the same heavy-set, massive-skulled evolutionary blueprint. But deep within the sun-baked, barren badlands of the La Colonia Formation in Chubut Province, Argentina, a single extraordinary discovery was quietly waiting to turn that entire assumption upside down.

The Bizarre Anatomy of Cranial Horns and Hyper-Reduced Forelimbs


To truly understand Carnotaurus is to marvel at the most radical anatomical departures found anywhere in the dinosaurian fossil record.
